The focus of research on microplastic biodegradation from
2019-present. The research included identifying the bacterial candidates that
could optimally degrade polystyrene and polypropylene microplastic types. The
bacteria used come from biofilms attached to plastic waste in seawater.

Milani Anggiani received an M.Si. in Biology (Microbiology) from the University of Indonesia, Indonesia, in 2017. She is a researcher at the Research Centre of Oceanography- National Research and Innovation Agency. Her research interests include Genetic Recombination Microorganisms, biodegradable Microplastic such as Polystyrene and Polypropylene, and Biodiversity Marine Microorganisms. Milani also joined a non-profit organization AFOB (Asian Federation of Biotechnology), as Chair of the Marine Biotechnology Division from 2022.
