Activities
My research area focuses on the potential effects of the triple planetary crisis (climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss) on microbial plankton. My doctoral project, in progress, which title is "Biological Carbon Pump in a Changing Ocean: Potential Impacts of Warming and Emerging Pollutants," encompasses a compilation of studies on the subject.
The study in progress now research focuses on the potential effects of the triple planetary crisis (climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss) on microbial plankton. My doctoral project, entitled "Biological Carbon Pump in a Changing Ocean: Potential Impacts of Warming and Emerging Pollutants," encompasses a compilation of studies on the subject. In the first stage, I investigate long-term responses in the structure of microbial communities and on coupling of autotrophic bacteria vs. heterotrophic bacteria in major oligotrophic ocean basins (North Atlantic, South Atlantic, North Pacific, South Pacific, Indian Ocean), accordance with changes in projected sea surface temperature by CMIP6 (Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6) simulations throughout the 21st century. This simulation is being conducted through machine learning, using a large data base of marine microplankton abundance across the global ocean.
I also investigate potential effects of Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products (PPCPs) on marine phytoplankton, using bioassays.
Sea regions of study
