GSR will provide funding to two candidates from a developing State to attend the 2018 session of the Rhodes Academy of Oceans Law and Policy (link is external) in Rhodes Island, Greece. GSR will cover travel, accommodation and tuition costs during the entire period of the course. Applicants must hold a legal degree, preferably linked to the Law of the Sea, from a university or recognized equivalent, and will need to provide a proof of sufficient knowledge of English. The intensive 3?week training, given by leading jurists, practitioners and international law faculty from around the world, will allow the nominee to accumulate unique knowledge in the Ocean Law and Policy, basis to the development of future Deep?sea Mining Regulations. The candidate will also learn about Ocean Law Policy focusing on Background and Science, Resources and Delimitation and Navigation and Environment.
