The Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology serves students and varied constituencies through learning, research and outreach. We teach students to think critically about environmental issues, and become ecologically literate citizens with the training to be successful in graduate school and in careers with natural resources agencies, firms, and NGOs. We expand the frontiers of knowledge through our broad-based expertise in applied ecology, quantitative methods, and human dimensions in the conservation and management of fish and wildlife. Our outreach efforts contribute significantly to life-long learning by assisting individuals and agencies to solve complex environmental problems and to be good stewards of our nation's natural resources. The Larval Fish Laboratory (LFL) at Colorado State University is a non-profit research, service, and educational facility funded by grants, contracts, and service fees. It is unique among North American university, government, and private ichthyological research laboratories in its orientation and functions.
