As an environmental advocate, Matthew strives to reduce pollution and protect biodiversity/wildlife ecosystems through his conservation trips and nonprofit initiatives. Matthew founded The Equality Collective to empower underserved communities while championing climate action. In addition, he has won an international speech contest and raised funds for Habitat for Humanity.

For many years, Matthew has studied climate change's impact on critically endangered marine ecosystems. He traveled to Latin America to explore conservation efforts to mitigate effects of pollution, rising temperatures and human impact on marine wildlife habitats. Matthew is also interested in the Pacific Coast's marine ecology. He has monitored the distribution of the herbivore Emerita analoga, which serves as a barometer of the broader ecosystem’s viability despite the impact of contaminants such as domoic acid, a neurotoxin produced by diatoms.

He is joining forces with other Ocean Experts to build a sustainable world where human beings and wildlife thrive in harmony.
