Ajunct Professor at the Department of Hydrobiology in the Federal University of São Carlos (Brazil). Degree in Biology in the University of Minho (Portugal) and PhD from the University of Namur (Belgium), Postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Ciències del Mar (CSIC) in Barcelona (Spain), Postdoctoral fellow at the Federal Unievrsity of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Natal - RN (Brazil). Conducts research in the area of microbial ecology in aquatic systems, with emphasis on biotic interactions, structure and function of planktonic communities in all compartments of the trophic web (viruses, bacteria, phytoplankton, zooplankton, ...) in all types of aquatic environments (tropical and temperate lakes, lowland and high mountain, rivers, oceans, ...).
