GDP of US$1.57 trillion Coastal Resources Utilization and Development Fisheries and Aquaculture. Worlds third largest fishing zone, extending up to 200nauticalmiles. Commercial fishing and aquaculture industry is worth over $2billion annually and employs around 11 600 people. Manufacturing industries. Manufacturing industry employed approximately 921,400 people (2013) and contributed approximately $105 billion to the economy. Ports and Harbours. Energy production. Total domestic energy production was estimated at 17,282 petajoules, including black coal (57%), uranium (19%), natural gas (12%) and crude oil (5%). Hydrocarbon Exploration and Exploitation. About 95 per cent of Australias petroleum production comes from offshore sedimentary basins. Australia exported $8.8 billion of crude oil, $10.1 billion of LNG and $1.0 billion of LPG. Mines and quarries. Mining includes coal, iron ore, gold, uranium, copper and diamonds. Minerals industry is Australias largest export earner with mineral exports accounting for 50-60 per cent of the annual total exports. Recreational industry and Tourism. Tourism contributes more than $34 billion a year to the economy. The tourism industry directly employs more than 500,000 people Marine Parks and Reserves.
