ITST Interim and Final Reports The ITST Coordinator and the Coordination Team MUST generate and deliver an Interim Report to the host government/UNESCO-IOC BEFORE they leave the affected country. The exact format and layout of the report will reflect the ToR’s and activities of the ITST in the field. See ANNEX XXXX for a template of an appropriate Interim report format. The Interim report will provide summative data, details on methods used, be accessible to educated but lay individuals. In negotiation with the host government, the ITST Coordinator should agree an appropriate date for the production and delivery of a Final Report of the ITST. The date will vary according to the detail and scale of the ITST and the time required to post-process the data collected. Depending on the size and complexity of the ITST, it may be necessary for the ITST Coordinator to delegate writing tasks to different authors. The ITST Coordinator may either provide a specialized final report and/or provide copies of published peer reviewed papers on all relevant aspects of the field survey. It is clear that waiting for all publications to appear in print may be more than a year after the completion of the survey thus potentially delaying production of the final report by an extended period of time. Make sure this is carefully explained to the host government. Tsunami Event Special Issue - Peer-reviewed publication Opportunity usually arises for the negotiation of a Special Issue of an International refereed journal to take papers related to a specific event. The ITST Coordinator, together with UNESCO-IOC can negotiate directly with Editorial Boards to make such proposals. All ITST team members should be included as co-authors on at least one summative paper about various aspects of the ITST in recognition of their efforts. Any Special Issue should be provided to the host government as appropriate (and may be presented as the ‘Final Report’. Conferences and workshops Consideration should be given to presenting the results (preliminary and final) at relevant conferences and workshops. Members of the ITST – together with host government officers/relevant staff should where possible, convene special sessions at relevant conferences (e.g., the AGU, EGU etc). It may be appropriate to consider organizing workshops (subject to funding??) to reflect on lessons learned. All ITST members who present conference papers/presentations should communicate full details of these to the overall ITST Coordinator so that s/he can provide summaries to the host government and UNESCO-IOC for official records.
