The Joint Committee was enlarged to organisations concerned with in-situ monitoring and geohazards obervations (International Consortium on Landslides, Federation of Digital Seismological Networks, Global Geodetic Observing System and World Organisation of Volcanoes Observatories). The IGOS Geohazards Bureau and members further promoted the Geohazards theme through the organisation of conference sessions and workshops, in particular the GEO South East Asia Workshop on Geohazards, whose report is available here: HYPERLINK "BLOCKED::http://www.igosgeohazards.org/WS_ASIA_objectives.asp.got" \o "http://www.igosgeohazards.org/WS_ASIA_objectives.asp.got" http://www.igosgeohazards.org/WS_ASIA_objectives.asp.got . In addition, a stronger involvment within the GEO process allowed its recognition as "GEO Geohazards Community of Practice". IGOS Geohazards is also actively involved in 3 GEO tasks related to geohazards observations and architecture of Earth Observation information, and manages two other tasks: DI-06-07 (Hazard maps inventory) and DI-06-03 (Promotion of InSAR for disaster management). One of the outcome of this work is the launch of GeoHazdata, which is a system to acquire and display metadata on hazards maps, which is available on the IGOS Geohazards Webpage. In 2007, IGOS Geohazards participates into 2 major actions, which are coordinated with the GEO disaster SBA priorities and schedule: - IGOS Geohazards willrelease the Theme report in an electronic format in July 2007. A first draft has been submitted for review to the Joint GARS-IGOS Geohazards Committee. It will be reviewed on 31st May by the IGOS Geohazards/GARS Joint Committee, then updated and released. - The 3rd IGOS Geohazards Workshop, organised by ESA, GEO and IGOS Geohazards, will take place in Rome, Italy, on 6th-9th November 2007. It will aims to strengthen the emerging international strategy for disaster mitigation and prevention for the benefit of those exposed to geohazards, namely earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, and tsunamis. In a longer term perspective, the Geohazdata architecture will be extended in 2008 to include more information on sensors. ------------------------------------------- Gonri Le Cozannet IGOS Geohazard Bureau French Geological Survey (BRGM) 3 avenue Claude Guillemin 45060 Orlans, France Tel: +33 (0)2 38 64 36 14 Fax: +33 (0)2 38 64 36 89 e-mail: HYPERLINK "mailto:g.lecozannet@brgm.fr" g.lecozannet@brgm.fr HYPERLINK "http://www.igosgeohazards.org/" www.igosgeohazards.org nojOJQJU^JaJOJPJQJ^J0JB*OJQJ^JaJph OJQJ^JjOJQJU^JOJQJ^JaJ$./ 2Lf$a$,1h.
